The IIF was delighted to host a Live Video Conference,
COVID-19, THE 2020 ELECTION AND THE FUTURE OF U.S. TRADE POLICY
on
April 29
from
9:00 am - 10:00 am EDT.
COVID-19 is having a substantial negative impact on global trade, and it may have impact on how the U.S. thinks about trade policy. In addition, the 2020 U.S. elections could also have an impact on how to think about trade policy. This panel addressed the questions related to these developments, including: Will Phase 1 of the U.S.-China deal be able to hold with both economies having substantial problems? Will a Democratic administration handle the U.S.-China relationship differently? Has the trade agenda for 2020 been relegated to nothing? Has COVID-19 changed the global dynamics on trade, particularly in such areas as medical devices and pharmaceuticals?
